Measuring Hospital Curtains
Hospital curtains are curtains used around beds, in front of doorways and in other areas where privacy is an issue. All health care facilities are required to provide a certain level of privacy for their patients and staff. Materials used for curtains must be flame retardant (pass the NFPA 701 test or BS5867 Part2 Type C) and mesh must be used at top to allow sprinkler water to penetrate curtain if there is a fire. 50cm of mesh is standard(No mesh is required if the cubicle track is suspended from ceiling). The curtains hang from the carriers installed into cubicle track.
How to Measure
1. Calculate the Curtain Drop
• | Measure the ceiling height in meters | 2.8m |
• | Subtract 0.05m for the carriers | - 0.05m |
• | Subtract 0.3m to 0.45m from the floor for clearance | - 0.3m |
• | If mesh is needed, subtract 0.5m for the mesh | - 0.5m |
• | Fabric height | =1.95m |
If the track is suspended from ceiling, no mesh is needed, just subtract the distance from celling to track. For example, the distance is 0.5m, the curtain drop is 2.8m-0.05m-0.3m-0.5m=1.95m
2. Calculate the Curtain Width
• | Measure the length of the track in inches (Example: 0.38m – this will be all the track sides added together | 7.05m |
• | Add 10%-15% to provide fullness to the curtain. | +0.45m |
• | Minimum curtain width | = 7.5m |
Note: You must round up to the next width of fabric available for your curtain width to use standard item numbers. These standard widths are as follows: 3m, 4.5m, 7.5m. Call us +86519.8399.8322 for help with special sizes.
